Breaking the Cycle:
Chronic Pain Management

with Jillian Thayer

Almost 1 out of every 4 adults in the U.S. lives with chronic pain — so whether that’s you, someone you love, or some of your clients, you almost certainly know someone with chronic pain.

In this class, we’ll cover key information about pain that helps us understand what to do about it:

What causes pain in the first place, and why is it such an important physiological response?
How does pain become chronic, and how does pain lead to more pain?
What’s the impact of pain on society — and how do social structures impact our pain?

And most importantly, we’ll look at effective strategies to help reduce pain and improve quality of life. We’ll cover key nutrition and stress management practices, as well as herbal preparations we can use internally and topically to help manage chronic pain.

About the Instructor

Jillian Thayer is passionate about making herbal and nutritional practices accessible for everyday living. Her journey working with the plants was inspired and motivated by an early diagnosis of severe arthritis in her childhood. This personal connection has given her valuable insight on how to support folks with chronic pain and led to her working in the cannabis industry where she could advocate for alternative wellness practices. Jillian is a certified health coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and a clinical herbalist from the Vermont Center for Integrative Herbalism. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from Saint Michael's College. She lives in Saint Albans, Vermont with her small family.
