
Ginseng is an endangered plant in the wild, but seed is widely available due to cultivated supply. In this class we will explore how to approach seeding ginseng in the northeast forests, and encourage ourselves to plant seeds in habitable areas.
This class covers: brief cultural and economic history of ginseng, basic planting site assessment, indicator species, where to source seed, growth stages, Vermont regulations, conservation status, and ideas regarding social organization to promote ginseng seed planting
Leo is a current clinical intern in VCIH's student clinic. Living and working on the Long Trail as a young adult cemented Leo’s curiosity and awe of ecology. Leo currently practices as a certified massage therapist, mainly working with veterans, and is also trained as a wilderness first responder. While excited to work with people experiencing a variety of conditions, he is especially suited to support people experiencing chronic pain, digestive difficulties, and emotional distress.
