This class will provide practitioners with various ways to incorporate body-awareness techniques into clinical practice and the potential benefits of doing so. It will draw on the modalities of Somatic Experiencing® and movement-based expressive arts to teach tracking the body and nervous system and how to work with what is revealed. You will leave with a toolkit to better understand, depathologize and collaborate with the world inside of yourself and your clients.
Julie MacAdam (MA, SEP, RSMT) is a somatic therapist and educator serving individuals and communities through personal sessions, speaking and teaching events and group facilitation. She believes that the body has an innate capacity to heal and that healing accelerates when we partner with forces larger than ourselves. Her work is body-based, resilience-oriented and relational. It invites an honest, curious and courageous look at what is unconscious to restore awareness, choice and connection to self, other and world.
