Come learn the history of this ancient and alchemical practice. Together we will go through the process of distilling plants into aromatic waters (hydrosols) and essential oils. I will demonstrate both the copper alembic still and the stove top at home distillation processes. We will talk history, science of aromatics, different plants and parts used, and will explore the various applications of different methods and medicines of aromatic plant waters and oils.

About the Instructor

Hannah Suriano of Bristle & Bane studied at The Vermont Center for Integrative Herbalism where she received her certificate in Clinical Herbalism in 2017 and later worked as Administrative and Apothecary Assistant. A deep love for the natural world is core to her work. She graduated as a Druid of the Stone Weaver clan from the Green Mountain Druid School in 2019. She has taught a variety of classes in different settings focusing mostly on broom making, herbalism, and woodworking. Hannah has been a broom maker for 14 years and has taught broom making throughout the Northeast for the last 13 years. Hannah lives with her partner and two children in Brookfield, Vermont.
